National Blood Donor Week (NBDW) takes place each June in Canada. The Government of Canada enacted NBDW in 2008 “whereas blood donors in Canada are the lifeblood of their communities, and their acts of kindness and generosity should be honoured with a national week of celebration.”

World Blood Donor Day - June 14
The World Health Organization created World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products, and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their lifesaving gifts of blood. WBDD is one of 11 official global public health campaigns marked by the WHO.
